Attach the headboard cleat to the side rails using glue and the side stiles using glue and 1 1 4 inch brads.

The wood i chose is tongue and groove and has a nice bevel to it but any planks would work.
Now while this was the inspiration the headboard isn t an exact clone.
This project used 1 by 4 s and thin wall planks and the headboard uses 1 by 6 s and a very thick tongue and groove almost like a shiplap.
Oh and the soar above his headboard leads to that metal plane you have seen around before.
For added stability nail a third centered gusset on the backside of the headboard.

Step 11 nail the cleats to side rails.
Attach the headboard cleat to the sub header using glue and 1 1 4 inch pocket hole screws as shown in image 3.
And yep those are just tiny little pieces of vinyl that i cut up.
This way the heads of the screws will be on the backside of the headboard step 2.
Repeat steps 2 9 to assemble the headboard this time using six 1 x 6 tongue and groove pattern stock boards and marking the line for the bottom rail at 31 inches from the top of the legs.
We secured the plywood to the 2 x 3 using 1 screws driven through the plywood into the 2 x 3.
Position the headboard cleat flush against the sub head and the outside edges of the side stiles and clamp in place.
And so it began.
Glue the tongue and groove in place.
